Diva Freakk Weekly Roundup

Diva Freakk Weekly Roundup

This week was pretty poor for the divas. With only 3 matches, and what seemed like a filler storyline, it left a lot to be desired. The week started off with a bland tag team match on Raw, with the highlight being Tamina tripping over the referee, which I would probably call my highlight of the week, because it was so hilarious. Naomi ate the pin, which was a slap in the face, but meh. On NXT we got Dana, with Emma, vs Cassie? Is that her name now? I personally prefer KC, but that's irrelevant. This match was okay. Nothing special, but I wasn't expecting anything amazing. On Smackdown we got Naomi vs Alicia Fox, which I would say was my match of the week, but honestly, it too, was not great. The girls only got 2 minutes, so there's not much they could possibly do, but the outside interferences were more interesting than the match itself.

5. Dana Brooke

Dana didn't show a great deal of improvement this week, but I didn't really care. I didn't care about this match, and honestly, they haven't given me a reason to care about Dana. They hyped her up so much, but she's not doing anything and isn't showing her apparent "incredible athleticism and strength" that the commentators keep shoving down our throats. They're building her up to be the next NXT womens champion I believe, but she's so far from ready for that. However, she clearly has great potential and I'm more than happy to wait and see how she improves.

4. Nikki Bella

To say I'm fed up of the Bella Twins would be an understatement right now. I don't see what's so amazing about them. They are all round bland. No character, average/awful (Brie) mic skills and probably around the middle of the pack in terms of ring skills. One of my biggest issues is the fact that they instantly turn babyface when Paige isn't around. I don't know if they're told to do that, but I'm sure they could make it a bit less obvious. Alicia was a perfect example. She was clearly supposed to play the face in her match with Naomi, but she still came across as a heel in the ring, which must have been difficult for her, with the Bella's valeting for her, smiling and waving at the crowd. So props to Alicia for yet again out shining the Bella's. I felt like I had to put Nikki on the list, as she picked up a win on Raw, bt she's gonna need to step up her game.

3. Tamina

Other than tripping over the ref, Tamina didn't do much this week, but at least she can manage to be consistant with her character, unlike certain divas. Her involvement in the Smackdown match was pretty cool too. There's not really much else to say.

2. Naomi

Congratulations Naomi, for once again proving why you should have won the title off Nikki months ago. WWE should be kicking themselves, but unfortunately they don't care enough to do that. Naomi's character is forming into full fruition. Everything she's doing is on point right now. The fact that such a talent has never held the belt is a crime. She may have been pinned twice this week, but to consistently out shine the divas champion should surely make her worthy of being my number 2,

1. Alicia Fox

This week Alicia is my number 1 for a few reasons. The first is that she finally proved that it is possible to still act heel when wrestling a match against another heel, which the Bella's have been struggling to do for months. Alicia is another diva who is constantly out performing the Bella's, yet she is still ignored and treated like a lap dog to Nikki and Brie, who should be kissing her boot. Alicia is superior to the Bella's in every way. Ring skills, mic work, charisma, character. What more does she need to do? If this storyline ends like every other storyline which involved Alicia (Alicia/Paige alliance) I will be upset. This needs to lead to a six pack challenge. Everyone wants it.

This week was pretty crap for the divas. Next week I am hoping for some actual storyline development and maybe a match announced for Battleground.

Thank you for reading.

Smackdown: Naomi vs Alicia Fox

Smackdown: Naomi vs Alicia Fox

On Smackdown, Alicia Fox and Naomi faced off in what I would call an interesting match. What happened in the ring was nothing spectacular, but the action outside of the ring made this match stand out for me. I'm not really too bothered about Alicia pairing with the Bella's, but I think she is so much better than that. She should have her own merchandise, and not be degraded enough to have to wear the Bella's merchandise on national TV; but at least she's actually getting some TV time. One thing I loved about this match, is that Alicia was clearly playing the babyface role, but still managed to stay in character as a heel. That may sound weird but I'll explain. In a match there always has to be a heel and a face to make it work, even if both competitors are actually heel. In this case, both women were heels, but Alicia played the babyface role in the match, but still managed to come across as a heel and still wrestled like a heel. This is something the Bella's can not do. Anytime the Bella's face Naomi or any heel they completely loose their character and act completely babyface. Even at ring side in this match they looked and acted like faces. It's as if two evil characters in a movie can't hate eachother. Just because both divas are heel doesn't mean they have to be friends. It doesn't always have to be heel vs face. It's annoying to see a diva like Alicia Fox, who is so unappreciated, perform so much better than the 'top divas' on a regular basis.
The match itself was nothing special. I liked that Naomi did her amazing hurricanrana again and I liked that both women got in some spots. I thought Tamina did really well on the outside too, which is more than I can say for the Bella Twins. I just wish they could stop smiling at the crowd and high fiving them when they're supposed to be heels. It's annoying to watch.

This match really should have gotten more time. They didn't get to show what they can do and we all know that these two divas can have great matches together. I also am really glad that Alicia is using the 'Foxy Buster' as a finisher more often, as I think it looks more effective than the scissor kick. I really hope that this alliance between the Bella's and Alicia actually does something for Alicia, and I am still praying that we will get Nikki vs Brie vs Alicia vs Paige vs Naomi vs Tamina at Summerslam. It could be a great match if it's given the time necessary. Overall, I think the overall showing was good, due to the action outside of the ring, but the in ring work wasn't great, as there really wasn't much shown from either woman. I will give this match a score of 6/10 due to the lack of time.

NXT: Dana Brooke vs KC Kassidy

NXT: Dana Brooke vs KC Kassidy

WWE clearly see a lot of potential in Dana Brooke, and I completely understand why and I get what they're trying to do, but I just don't see her as the power house, alternative diva they're trying to portray her as. She looks like a typical diva, just with extra muscle. I don't get the Beth Phoenix vibe from her. It's clear that the divas division is seriously lacking a power house wrestler, with the most powerful diva being Tamina, who isn't great in the ring at best. Beth Phoenix was the last real power house, and I feel like they are trying to make Dana fill this mould, but she doesn't fit. It's obvious that she's going to be pushed to the moon over the next year, and I have no problem with it, but they need to sort things out with her character and image.
The match was pretty good. Dana is still pretty green and KC had a better showing in her match with Charlotte, probably because of this fact. Dana is showing great improvement, she just needs to be a bit more comfortable in the ring, which will obviously come in time. Dana also seems to be working more into her character, with the trash talking and taunting. Emma, on the other hand, was not great as a valet. I'm starting to worry about her. She kinda seems like she's loosing her passion for her job, and she's really not doing well as a heel. She had no purpose at ring side, and she did nothing and made barely any interaction with Dana or the crowd. I don't understand where they're going with this pairing or with her character in general. They don't fit and they have no reason to be friends, it really makes no sense. I thought KC looked pretty good in this match, and got a few good spots in. She's very athletic, and has a lot of in ring potential, but is currently playing a bland character which takes away from her matches.

So, this match was pretty average. Neither woman is technically perfected in the ring, but both can put on a decent match. The match was also quite long, so I will give it a score of 6/10.

Thank you for reading.

Raw: Nikki and Brie Bella vs Tamina and Naomi

Raw: Nikki and Brie Bella vs Tamina and Naomi

I'm a huge divas fan, and if I don't know who's face and who's heel then how the hell is a casual fan in the crowd supposed to know? The Bella's have been booked as the top heels in the division for the last two weeks, and before that they were babyfaces, and before that they were heels. What are they doing? I really don't know. To me, it looks like they're building up to Team Nikki (Nikki/Brie/Alicia) vs Team Paige (Paige/Naomi/Tamina) at Battleground, but this doesn't make sense. If I'm right, Nikki and Brie are the heels and Paige is the babyface? So if Naomi and Tamina are joining Paige, surely they're going to have some sort of brief face turn? So why would they be the heels in this match, and why are the Bella's the faces? It seems like the Bella's are only heel when Paige is around. We all know how badly WWE treats their divas, but this is getting almost unwatchable.
This match was okay. I think Naomi did good, Nikki was okay and Brie and Tamina were bad. Brie and Tamina really don't work well together, and this match really showed it. They had no chemistry whatsoever and most of the moves they both executed looked sloppy. I thought Naomi really did well with her character, and I think she's getting more comfortable as a heel. I'm also really enjoying the pairing of Tamina and Naomi, still. It seems like most people don't think they fit, but I think it works really well. I was surprised to see Alicia and The Bella's actually being aligned, and they've taken it in a completely different direction to what I thought they were doing. I think the match could have been longer, but I didn't really expect it to get much time. Also, I would have preferred Alicia to be in the match instead of Brie, because it would have been interesting to see Nikki and Alicia work together, and Alicia is better than Brie in the ring, in my opinion.

It was refreshing to have a break from Paige this week. It was nice to see new divas getting a chance to be on Raw, as it always gives other divas a chance when the top diva is absent. I'm actually really looking forward to the tag team match I believe they're building up to at Battleground. It's always great for Alicia to get involvement in a story, and I'm staying hopeful that this will lead to a six pack challenge at Summerslam. Overall, I wasn't really bothered about this match, but it wasn't bad. I will give it a score of 6/10.

Thank you for reading.

Diva Freakk Weekly Roundup

Diva Freakk Weekly Roundup

I thought this was a pretty good week for the divas. The quality of matches were consistently good and we saw almost the entire divas roster. The week started off with two backstage segments featuring most of the divas. I thought these segments were well thought out and acted, but they served little purpose. The match we got was Paige vs Nikki and Brie Bella, which was an average match. I gave it 7/10. The NXT matches we got were Alexa and Carmella featured in a inter-gender match, and Charlotte vs KC Cassidy. I was particularly impressed with the latter. I gave the first match 6/10 and the second 8/10. making it the match of the week. On Main Event we got Summer Rae vs Naomi, which I thought was another great match. I gave it 7/10. Finally, on Smackdown we got Brie Bella vs Paige which also got a score of 7/10.

5. Charlotte

Charlotte's match on NXT was my best match of the week, however the reason she is not higher up on my list is because her in ring skills are constantly on point, and I wasn't expecting anything less than she gave. Charlotte was featured on this weeks NXT tapings, however it looks as if it will be her last ones. I'm expecting to see Charlotte on the Main Roster very soon.

4. Summer Rae

Summer Rae is my number 4 because she consistently performs well and had one of her best matches this week. I'm really liking the fact that Summer now regularly appears on TV. I'm not sure whether Summer is now a face or a heel, but I like her as either so it doesn't bother me. Summer was also one of the few divas who got to talk in the backstage segment, which helped me decide to put her above Charlotte.

3. KC Cassidy

I was very impressed with KC this week. Her match with Charlotte on NXT was much better than I expected and I also gave it match of the week. For someone so new to the company to out perform the Divas Champion is promising for the future.

2. Alicia Fox

Even though Alicia didn't have a match this week, she provided some much needed storyline development. She is such a bubbly character, and she can add so much to a story to interest the viewers. Her appearance on Smackdown should have happened on Raw, but I'm hoping it will carry on into next week. Alicia was also featured in the backstage segments on Raw, and was one of the few who got to talk, which was a bonus.

1. Paige

Paige, along with Brie Bella had two matches this week. Both matches were decent, but nothing special. The main reason Paige is on my list and Brie isn't, is Brie is such a bad heel. She smiles and interacts with crowd in her entrance and she wrestles like a babyface. They can not keep her heel for much longer. Anyway, back to Paige. I thought Paige did a great job in her backstage segments on Raw, and I keep noticing her adding to her moveset. Every week Paige seems to have the most matches, which tells me that she works very hard.

Overall, I think this was a great week for the divas. Next week I'm hoping there will more storyline development.

Thank you for reading.

Smackdown: Brie Bella vs Paige

Smackdown: Brie Bella vs Paige

On Smackdown we saw Paige take on Brie Bella. From the outset, this match didn't look like anything to look forward to, but Alicia's involvement made it interesting. Alicia is that diva they can always use to make story lines go on for longer, for example: the AJ and Paige feud. However, I don't think this pairing is long term, in fact, I don't think it will go beyond this episode of Smackdown. My reason behind this is that I think the Bella's will use a different heel diva to help win their matches against Paige every week, to prove they "run the division". On Raw, I'm predicting they might get the help of Summer Rae or maybe Cameron (if she's still employed). I'm not entirely sure where this story line is heading, but I really don't see us getting Paige vs Nikki at Battleground. I'm predicting either The Bella's vs Paige and Charlotte, or a Team Bella vs Team Paige match, featuring the entire roster, which I would be okay with. Just let Paige win the tag team match, and end their feud. But we all know that won't happen. In my opinion, Nikki is beating AJ's reign and she will loose the title to Paige at Night Of Champions. The match itself was nothing special. As I've said before, I don't think Brie is as good as Nikki, and this match solidified my belief. To me, it looks like Alicia's involvement was supposed to take place on Raw, but it got cut for timing reasons. That's what makes the most sense to me.

This match didn't really do anything for me. Alicia was my highlight of it and I also liked Brie's powerbomb. I think Paige did a better job in the ring than Brie, which wasn't surprising to me. Overall, I'm going to give this match 7/10.

Thank you for reading.

Main Event: Naomi vs Summer Rae

Main Event: Naomi vs Summer Rae

I was actually very impressed by this match. It may not have had a great amount of time but both women performed to their best, particularly Summer Rae. In my opinion, this was one of Summers best matches since her main roster debut. She got to show lots manoeuvres and got a lot of momentum in the match. It was weird to see her play a babyface, but I personally see more potential for Summer as a babyface, which seems to be an unpopular opinion, but it's likely she'll be back as a heel by next week. I do have a lot to say about Naomi. I have constantly been sticking up for her, saying that she should have won the title by now, but admittedly, I was wrong. I love Naomi so much, but she really needs to step up her game if she wants the divas championship. Her in ring work isn't the problem. Firstly, her image. She has so many nice attires, yet she constantly wears these horrible gears. She could wear her gear from Wrestlemania, or her all-in-one black attire. Secondly, her hair is not great. She has had great hair in the past, but she doesn't seem to have any personal style and changes it up all the time, which is not a positive thing in my eyes. She needs to stick to one image to be remembered and branded. Both Nikki and Paige have got their brand and image down to a point. Another thing Naomi needs to do, is decide on 1 or 2 finishers, and ditch the rear view if she wants to be taken seriously. Both Paige and Nikki have memorable finishers, with memorable names, whilst Naomi seems to have a new one every week. Naomi needs time to get everything on point. She's still too messy (not in terms of in ring work) to be the face of the divas division.

I really enjoyed this match, the only thing letting it down was the time it got. Both women performed very well in my opinion. I will give this match a score of 7/10.

Thank you for reading.

NXT: Enzo Amore, Colin Cassidy and Carmella vs Blake, Murphy and Alexa Bliss, KC Kassidy vs Charlotte

NXT: Enzo Amore, Colin Cassidy and Carmella vs Blake, Murphy and Alexa Bliss, KC Kassidy vs Charlotte

I really enjoyed the diva appearances we got on NXT last night. Firstly, we got an inter-gender tag team match featuring Alexa Bliss and Carmella. This match had a good length, but the divas hardly got any time to show what they can do. However, I thought Carmella did a great job at getting the crowd involved in the match and I think she is developing into a great babyface. I also see Alexa becoming an amazing heel too, she, just like Carmella, needs a bit of work in the ring and on her character, but that will come in time. I thought the divas would have got a bit more time to shine in this match, but they did well with the time they got. Out of the two women, Carmella impressed me more, but that was due to the fact that Alexa didn't really get a chance to execute any moves. Carmella's mic skills are also improving, which she showed at the beginning of the match. This is the sort of development all of the divas should be getting in NXT. Carmella has the perfect opportunity to become one of the best talkers by the time she gets to the main roster. In my opinion, no NXT diva should be brought up to the main roster until she can cut a decent promo, as it's so important

The only negative thing I can say about this match is that it should have given the divas more time. Overall, based on the divas' contribution to the match, alone, I will give it 6/10.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good this match was. KC really impressed me and Charlotte's in ring work was unsurprisingly on point. The one thing I will say, is that I really don't buy Charlotte as a babyface. It just doesn't work for me at all. To me, she comes across as so unlikeable, and I feel like the cocky heel character could really work for her, Also, I know this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I would like Charlotte to stop being so associated with her father. I want the theme tune changed and I want her to stop doing his taunts. She needs to create her own legacy, rather than living of her father's, in order to earn respect. I also don't think the theme tune suits her at all. I much preferred her previous one. But going back to the match, I thought it was one of the best NXT divas matches in a few weeks. KC's athleticism really impressed me and made me excited to see her wrestle again. As I said on my last review of NXT, I think Sasha needs to be featured more and the lack of her presence is really felt. I know the new NXT tapings are tonight, and I'm hoping to see Sasha in a match, and hopefully Eva Marie will have her first match since her break. I am really excited to see Eva in the ring, and I think it's something everyone's been waiting for.

I thought this match was really good. I'm going to give it a score of 8/10.

Than you for reading.

Raw: Paige vs Nikki and Brie Bella

Raw: Paige vs Nikki and Brie Bella

Does anyone care? Really? Anyone? I have so little motivation to even comment on this match. What more is there to squeeze out of this feud? I feel like they have no idea what they want to do and are just keeping the title around the two divas they have most faith in. After last nights title match it was clear that this feud wasn't over, however almost the entire divas roster being present made me believe something fresh would happen. I was wrong, as I always am. Us diva fans always read into things too much, and we work ourselves up for more disappointment. Every week I have positive thoughts of what I think will happen on Raw, and every week I am left with nothing. The divas division is going downhill at a fast pace, and it's such a shame. This match had a good amount of time, which made it even more frustrating. They could have had a nice battle royal, or number one contenders match, but they still insist on giving us these stale match ups. Yes, I know that they haven't done a handicap match before, but it really makes no difference. There are other girls, literally backstage. Backstage doing nothing. The majority of diva fans would prefer to see these divas. I really liked the backstage segments. But what was the point in them? I was genuinely expecting someone to help Paige. Usually, I am disappointed with the division, but this was more than disappointment. Like, WHAT. It was a no brainer. I didn't doubt it would happen for a second. I don't understand. I really don't. It's as if they can't see what's right in front of them. It doesn't even take someone with creativity to come up with something so simple. It's just plain and simple lack of effort, and frankly, I'm sick of it and have just about reached my limits of how much I can take of this generic, bland 'feud', that consists of nothing but relentless attempts to make people care about Paige. I'm so over it. As for the match itself, it was good. It had a decent amount of time and consisted of nice manoeuvres and chemistry.

This match was bland, generic, pointless and predictable, but nevertheless, it was well done. These women have more than proven themselves over the last few weeks and have really shown that they are two of the best in the division. I will give this match 7/10 due to the large amount of time they got.

Thank you for reading.

Diva Freakk Weekly Roundup

Diva Freakk Weekly Roundup

It's been an up and down week for the divas. The week started badly with Nikki Bella vs Summer Rae on Raw. It was a very short match, with little purpose. Nikki completely squashed Summer, making her look extremely weak. I gave it a score of 4/10. We then had NXT, which was a step in the right direction. Emma took on Blue Pants in an average match, which I gave 6/10, and Becky Lynch faced Jessie McKay, which I gave 7/10. On Main Event the team of Emma and Layla faced Naomi and Tamina, which again was an average tag team match. I gave it 6/10. On Superstars Layla faced Paige, in what I thought was a great match, I scored it 7/10. On Smackdown we got Paige vs Alicia Fox which is guaranteed to be entertaining. This was another great match and I gave it 8/10. Finally we had Nikki Bella vs Paige at Money In The Bank, which I thought was the best divas PPV match of the year so far. I gave it a score of 9/10.

From Now on, instead of doing diva of the week, I'm going to do top 5 divas of the week.

5. Emma

I put Emma at number 5 because she consistently wrestles at a good standard and this week she showed that she could wrestle well as a face or a heel. Emma had two matches this week. Neither were anything special, but she's slowly proving herself to everyone, and I am looking forward to her future.

4. Alicia Fox

I put Alicia Fox at number 4 because she had one of the best matches of the week, and she is showing how great she is on a weekly basis, yet continues to be ignored. Her matches with Paige are some of the best divas matches we've seen on WWE TV this year, and if given the chance, I know she would deliver at a PPV.

3. Layla

This week Layla is my number 3. Layla is the oldest diva on the roster, yet still wrestles so well. It's truly amazing how well she can still perform. It makes me so happy to see her on TV and her match with Paige on Superstars was surprisingly good, considering the two have hardly worked together. I'm not expecting Layla to have a long future with WWE, but I would love her to be featured on TV more often.

2. Paige

Paige had 3 matches this week, so it was difficult not to put her high on this list. All three of her matches this week were great. Her match with Alicia being fantastic didn't surprise anyone. Her match with Layla was surprisingly good, and her match with Nikki was brilliant, which I wasn't expecting. Paige may have lost her title match, but it's obvious to me that she'll be winning it sooner or later.

1. Nikki Bella

Nikki started the week badly, with her match with Summer Rae on Raw. however her successful title defence made her my diva of the week. Her match with Paige was her best title defence so far, and the fact that she won made her the top of this list. She may have only had one good match this week, but she's still the champion and she proved herself on Sunday night.

This week wasn't the best, but it definitely had great moments. Next week I am hoping we get a new number one contender, and hopefully it will be someone interesting and fresh.

Thank you for reading.

Money In The Bank: Paige vs Nikki Bella (C)

Money In The Bank: Paige vs Nikki Bella (C)

This is the sort of match I would like to see every PPV. It was long, had good story telling and kept the audience interested. It is common knowledge that this feud isn't great, and most people want it to end, but there is nothing negative anyone can say about the standard of this match. The match lasted around 12 minutes, which is longer than the average divas PPV match, and is certainly longer than the Elimination Chamber match, which confused me. Why was the one on one match given 12 minutes, and a triple threat was given less than 10? It doesn't make sense, because surely 3 women need more time to successfully perform than two women. I would say this is the best divas PPV match of the year so far, and I would say that it also topped any other match these two have had, however the ending caused some controversy. Personally, I didn't see a problem with the ending of the match, but a lot of people were complaining about it. The only thing the ending confirmed for me, is that Paige will get another title shot, probably on Raw tomorrow, and due to the remainder of the divas roster being shown at the PPV, it looks as if it will be a lumberjill match. To me, it looks like they definitely want Paige to win the title from Nikki, but they also want Nikki to surpass AJ's reign. If they are certain they want Paige to be the next divas champion, they need to get her out of the title picture until after Summerslam and bring her back into it. This will make her become less stale, and also improve the state of the overall division. I really liked the character developments throughout this match, but I think we still need real confirmation of who Nikki is. We don't really know why she is suddenly heel again, and it is taking away from the already flattened story line.

Overall, I thought this match was really good. Much better than anyone expected. This would be a good note to end this feud on, however I think it's far from over. I'm expecting Paige to get another title shot on Raw tonight or at Battleground, but I'm not expecting her to win it any time soon. The division NEEDS a new challenger desperately, because at this point, not even the diva fans care. I'm certainly not taking anything away from last nights match, it was great, but no one to see anymore matches between these two. I will give this match a score of 9/10. I was extremely impressed.

Money In The Bank: Fantasy Booking

Money In The Bank: Fantasy Booking

I can never watch PPVs live, so usually I wake up the next morning and excitedly research the results. This will not be the case for Money In The Bank. This storyline has gone on for far too long, and I continue to have no reason to care. I don't know if Nikki is babyface, I don't know how I'm supposed to get behind Paige when she's had opportunities thrown at her endlessly, and the fact that the apparent heel, Naomi, made me feel sympathy towards her, tells me that this whole storyline isn't working. I honestly would prefer Nikki to hold onto the title than Paige winning it, however it seems inevitable that Paige will win it eventually, and part of me wants to see her just win it and get it over with. Comparing the current divas division to the one last year makes me depressed. This time last year, it was rare not to see two divas matches on Raw, and we had four story lines going on at once (AJ/Paige, Cameron/Naomi, Stephanie/Brie, Summer/Layla).
Okay, so for this match I would like Naomi to come out and demand to be included. I know this won't happen, but I would love to see it, as Naomi is the only one who could save this. I would want Naomi to pick up the win, with the split legged moon sault. She truly deserves it, and the time for her is now. The division has never been so stale, and a fresh new champion would help it a lot. I don't see how this story can go on after this PPV, so I really have no idea what will happen, but I can only hope that we get a new contender, or hopefully Naomi as champion going into Summerslam. Even if it's a short reign, and she looses it to Paige at Summerslam, I would be happy.

Thank you for reading.

Smackdown: Alicia Fox vs Paige

Smackdown: Alicia Fox vs Paige

Paige and Alicia are two divas that can make anyone look like a decent wrestler. These two are easily the best combination in the divas division, and they will always guarantee a great match, which is why I think Paige vs Alicia Fox at Summerslam is the best way to go. My opinion could be classed as biased, as Alicia is one of my favourite divas, but I really think Paige vs Alicia is the best possible match that could take place out of all the main roster divas. This match was shorter, and not as good as their match on Main Event, but it was still better than the usual matches produced on Smackdown. I did notice that they recycled a lot of the sequences from their Main Event match, but it didn't really make much difference to the overall match quality. I've also noticed that Paige has begun to start using a wider variety of manoeuvres in her matches, which makes me believe that the match at Money In The Bank will be better than it's expected to be. Before the match there was a backstage segment between Alicia and Paige. Backstage segments are always a positive addition to any divas match, but I think they could have done something more unique, and maybe tapped into Alicia's crazy character a bit more, rather than the cliché diva cattiness.

To no surprise, I was very impressed with this match. I will rank it lower than their Main Event match, due to less time. I will give this match a score of 8/10.

Superstars: Layla vs Paige

Superstars: Layla vs Paige

This is the first divas match on Superstars we've seen in a while and I was impressed. I was surprised at how great these two work to together, considering the fact that Layla has wrestled only a small number of matches since Paige's debut. I really liked the fast paced speed of the match, and the innovative counters Paige came up with for Layla's moves. I loved that they both got full entrances, and I also enjoyed the recap of the events of last week. The match got an average amount of time, and both competitors used this time well, and put on a good match. I would love these two to wrestle more matches in the future.

My only critique for this match is that Layla didn't get much of an opportunity to show off her full move set, however the match was still great. I will give this match a score of 7/10 due to the chemistry and fast pace of the match.

Main Event: Layla and Emma vs Naomi and Tamina

Main Event: Layla and Emma vs Naomi and Tamina

I have been looking forward to this match all week, and I am disappointed to say that it was average. I was immediately excited to see Layla, as she is one of my favourites and I love seeing her on TV, and even though this opinion may be biased, I thought she was the star of this match. For a 36 year old to be keeping up with Emma and Naomi, who are in their 20s, is amazing, let alone out performing them. I have nothing but respect for Layla. I was disappointed with Naomi in this match, as I thought she was pretty sloppy, but Tamina and Emma performed to their usual standards. I think they were trying to make this match great. but it just didn't plan out too well. They tried to add interesting moves and tried to tell a story but it became quite sloppy. I feel like, if Naomi wants to get back into the title picture, she needs to find a way to insert her athleticism into her new heel move set, as that's what really set her apart from the rest of the division, and got her where she is today. She needs to create a complete new move set to fit her character, as the current in ring skills she is showing are quite mediocre, which we all know she is not. She needs time to develop into the amazing heel that we all know she can be. I found the commentators saying that Tamina and Naomi 'run the division' a bit weird, as they're clearly completely out of the title picture for the time being, but I think they definitely have something planned for those two. Originally I was thinking that they would interfere in the match on Sunday, but the fact they were featured in a Main Event match killed that idea.

I think the best exchange in this match was between Tamina and Layla, which surprised me. This match was decent, and had a reasonable length so I'll give it a score of 6/10.

Money In The Bank: My Predictions

Money In the Bank: My Predictions

Personally, I'm not really interested in this match at all. This is not Nikki nor Paige's fault, but WWE has given me no reason to care about this match. We've seen the two face off many times before, I don't want Nikki to keep the title, but I also don't want Paige to win it, which is why the addition of Naomi made this feud worth watching. The only possible reasons I can think of that Nikki still has the title is that it ties into the 'Total Divas' storyline, which is likely, or they want her to surpass AJs reign, which is also likely. However, I can also see them wanting to put the title on Paige for her judging role on 'Tough Enough', which is what makes this match so difficult to predict. I don't see how this storyline can go on for much longer without Paige winning the title, however I don't think they really care how boring the division becomes, they care about what they want to promote, and the fact that I am forced to base my whole prediction around what they are using the title to promote is quite sad.

For this match, my final prediction is that Nikki Bella will retain after a rack attack. I'm kinda leaning towards the idea that she'll win this match clean and maybe Paige will take some time off for 'Tough Enough' filming, and a new challenger will be introduced until Paige returns. I think the match will get around 9 minutes and will be similar to all of their other matches we've seen from them.

NXT: Emma vs Blue Pants, Becky Lynch vs Jessie McKay

NXT: Emma vs Blue Pants, Becky Lynch vs Jessie McKay

On NXT this week we got two divas matches, one of which was Emma vs 'Blue Pants'. It's always nice to see Emma on NXT, as it gives her the opportunity to show her full potential and more importantly, show her new heel persona. This match was nothing particularly special, but is better than any match we would see Emma portray on the main roster. This match had reasonable length, and a good amount of character portrayal from both participants, as 'Blue Pants' is clearly popular with the fans, it gives Emma extra opportunity to gain heel heat and improve her character, ready for its main roster transition, which I am hoping will be impactful and relevant. My hope for Emma this year, is that her heel turn will push her more towards the title picture, and I would love an Emma/Paige feud later in the year, as by this point I would predict Paige having the title. It would make perfect sense, due to their long history in NXT and they could work on the idea that Emma is jealous of Paige's success. Based on Emma's tweets I think this is something they're building up to, perhaps for after Summerslam.

I think this match only took place to give Emma more practise as a heel, and also solidify her heel character. I don't think this match showed anything spectacular from either women, but I will give it 6/10, due to length and character portrayal.

The next match featured Becky Lynch and Jessie McKay. I thought this match was really good considering how new Jessie is. Becky particularly impressed me in this match, and she's proving herself more and more to be championship material. I loved that this match was fast paced, but also included submission holds, and character development. Jessie showed herself to be a good heel and Becky played a great face. However. both matches on this episode seemed to lack storyline development, which isn't surprising, as I don't think there's a live special in a while, meaning the story needs to be played out over a long period of time. I must say that I have really missed seeing Sasha on TV and I think the lack of her presence is felt. It seems as if she's in the transitional phase between NXT and the main roster, along with Charlotte. It seems as if they're slowly fading them both from NXT ready for a main roster debut, which I believe could happen at any time for either of them. I think Sasha will debut before she looses the belt, and I believe she will loose it Becky later in the year.

Overall, this match impressed me a lot, I am going to give it a score of 7/10 due to its fast pace and energy.

Raw: Nikki Bella vs Summer Rae

Raw: Nikki Bella vs Summer Rae

On Raw we saw the Divas Champion, Nikki Bella take on Summer Rae. This match is another example of a matchup that could have been a lot better than it actually was. The match was extremely short, made Summer look very weak and didn't show any remarkable skills from either competitor. This did nothing for the storyline, but still threw Summer under the bus, making her loose any credibility she had. I was happy to see both divas get full entrances it was just a shame that it was such a squash match. The match was mainly controlled by Nikki and Summer didn't really get a chance to show what she can do, which has been the same story for her whole career on the main roster. It's so frustrating to see all these talented women being so buried. The only positive thing I can say about this match, is that it carried some sort of storyline. Summer was included in Paige's list of divas that are being held back, and therefore she was (apparently) given a chance to prove herself. This was made more clear by the backstage interview with Nikki and Renee Young. It was nice to see Nikki actually talking, but to say this made her character any more clear would be a lie. Based on the small storyline that built up to this match, it seemed as if Summer was the Babyface and Nikki was the heel. I really don't know where they're going with this whole "there are no heels and babyfaces" thing, but they need to stop.

It may seem like I'm constantly complaining, but all I ask is that we get a decent length match and some sort of storyline development. This match was nothing special at all, and with the lack of time, impressive maneuvers and storyline development I will give it a score of 4/10.

Thank you for reading.

Diva Freakk Weekly Roundup

Diva Freakk Weekly Roundup

This week was a much better one for the divas. The week started out with a good divas title match on Raw between Paige and Nikki Bella. The two women performed better than they did at Elimination Chamber and the match out did anything the two had done for the whole of last week. The NXT divas match was also better this week. Last week Emma took on Bayley, in what I thought was an average match, however this week Alexa Bliss and Carmella, who are still quite new to in ring work did a good job at portraying storyline and character within their move sets. Main Event showed the best main roster match I've seen in a while. It is also the highest rated match I've written about since starting my blog. This match was 100% the match of the week, and I would also say it was the best match of the last two weeks. On Smackdown we saw Paige on mic in an interview with Renee Young. I thought Paige did great on the mic, but the content of the interview wasn't great. Overall this week, it would be difficult not to say Paige was my diva of the week. She appeared on TV 3 times this week and won two matches. She also showed improvement on the mic and performed well all week.

Paige was a clear front runner this week. I hope to see more weeks like this for the divas over the summer, building up to Summerslam.

Smackdown: Paige Interview

Smackdown: Paige Interview

I thought this interview was pretty good overall, I just didn't understand the point. Firstly, I think it would have been better to have had this interview either, before or after a match with someone like Cameron or Summer Rae or with the edition of Nikki Bella or Naomi attacking her at the end. This interview didn't really add anything, and the fact that it was Paige AGAIN kinda annoyed me. This should have gone to Nikki. Nikki needs to be defined. We know Paige thinks she's different and revolves her life around being good in the ring, and avoids the celebrity life the Bella's lead (yet ironically has taken time off to film 'Total Divas', a WWE film and in the future will presumably be absent due to 'Tough Enough' filming, but that's another story). We need to know who Nikki is. We don't know if she's heel or face and she needs some sort of platform to establish herself as one or the other. Paige recently had an interview with Michael Cole, which should have been Naomi, and has now taken a spot that should have been Nikki's yet she brings up 'Give Divas A Chance'. I don't mean to sound like a hater, because I genuinely love Paige, but I don't see why her character is constantly shoved down our throats when it's not needed.

I liked the fact that Paige brought up Emma and Summer Rae. It really showed the bond the three have, but it also highlights how many more chances Paige has had than them, and to categorise herself as 'not getting a chance' seems a tad ridiculous. Also, the way she said she's 'sick' of twin magic was a bit odd, as they have only used it once since she's been on the roster. I liked the idea of this interview but overall it didn't do anything for the storyline, and made Paige look a bit stupid. She was constantly contradicting herself, and acting as if she's been unfairly treated which was a bit embarrassing. One positive thing I can say, is that Paige is definitely underrated on the mic. I think she's one of the best active divas on the roster and I'm tired of people saying differently due to her accent.

Main Event: Alicia Fox vs Paige

Main Event: Alicia Fox vs Paige

Wow. This match is the standard of wrestling I expect to see every show. The chemistry Alicia and Paige have is incredible. Someone please remind me why these two aren't feuding over the title. This match had length, character development and most importantly: fresh move sets. They both bring out the best in each other, and I love it. They need to bring back Alicia's crazy gimmick and give her the title, to feud with Paige. Imagine the possibilities of these two in a 15 minute PPV match.
There are so many highspots of this match. Alicia's submission, Paige's submission and Paige's forward roll jump. This is the best match we've seen on the main roster for a long time. Definitely in the top 3 so far this year (of course not including NXT). A full feud between these two is the best thing they could do right now. During her meltdowns, Alicia was getting some of the loudest heel reaction from the crowd I've heard for a diva in a long time, and she was stealing the show. Paige is the most over diva on the roster. It's so logical. But as we know, WWE aren't often logical in terms of the divas. My only critique, is the fact that Alicia is now Heel again, after being Babyface twice last week. It's so unfair for her. The fact that she was the first diva on the current roster to win the divas title and she's still being so mistreated is so sad. This woman needs to be classed as a top diva, and I pray that sooner rather than later, she will get the huge push she deserves.

This match was so amazing. I am so pleased they both got to prove their talent to everyone who doubted them. I am going to give this match 9/10. It would be difficult for them to have made it any better, but to give this match 10/10 would mean making it equal to Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks, which it wasn't, due to the much shorter length, but I'm not complaining. I have nothing but positive opinions of this match.

NXT: Alexa Bliss vs Carmella

NXT: Alexa Bliss vs Carmella

This match really proved how much potential both of these competitors have. Both may be very new to wrestling, and still show some need for improvement, however the way both of them carried themselves in this match, worked well, developed their characters, and made it entertaining at the same time, really showed that they belong in WWE. Both have also proven that they can play either heel or babyface effectively, which is pretty rare. I've never pictured Carmella as a babyface or Alexa as a heel, but it seems to be working, so, good for them! This match wasn't technically perfected, but included some things main roster matches lack. Time, and character development. They were both trash talking, taunting and getting over with the crowd. I still ask myself daily why Vince McMahon has any creative control whatsoever, and the NXT divas really emphasise the frustration the main roster divas must be feeling. If the newest women in DEVELOPMENTAL are putting on matches like this, imagine what the main roster divas could do.
I'm not going to say this match was amazing, it wasn't. But both of them are relatively new to the ring, and are not expected to perform on such a high level. NXT has really given me hope for the future of the divas division, and in my opinion, the sooner Vince retires the better.

This match didn't show the best in ring work, however unlike any main roster match, characters were shown throughout. Due to the trash talking and story line development, I will give this match 6/10. This in ring work should be more polished, but understandably it's not, due to the lack of experience.

Raw: Paige vs Nikki Bella (C)

Raw: Paige vs Nikki Bella (C)

When I heard we were getting this match yet again I lost interest immediately. There are so many talented women bored, backstage, doing nothing. We need something fresh. Urgently. The match itself was pretty good. Better than any match produced last week, however the fact that both women are both so stale killed it for me. When I thought it about, I thought that something interesting is bound to happen. They wouldn't just make this match without a purpose. I was thinking the Emma main roster heel turn, an interference from Naomi, literally anything. But no. The 'interesting' thing was the Bella Twins ending their 1 month face run and doing 'Twin magic' for the win. What? What is this company doing? There were so many options. So many. Anyone could have got into the title picture. Ugh. I have no idea where they plan on going with this but it looks like it will lead to another title shot for Paige. Fantastic. It is clear to me that they want Nikki to break AJs reign out of spite. It's honestly pathetic. The divas division should be hot at this point in the year. This means we will have Nikki as champion until after Summerslam. I have simply no interest in her anymore.

I can only hope that Nikki looses the title to someone other than Paige at Money In the Bank. I can't deal with this anymore. I would give this match 8/10 however due to how stale both competitors are, I will give it 7/10.

Diva Freakk Weekly Roundup

Diva Freakk Weekly Roundup

This week hasn't been great for the Divas, and the fact that this was the week running up to, arguably the most important divas match of the year so far, it was shocking. The week began with the sloppy mess that was Tamina vs Paige on Raw. The match was short, lacked chemistry and added nothing to the storyline. The second match of the week was Emma vs Bayley on NXT. This match was a step above the Raw match, however the two women disappointed me, as I've seen them do much better, especially on NXT.  Next there was Summer Rae vs Nikki Bella, which was decent. The timing was a disappointment however the chemistry the two had showed potential, and they both played their roles well. On Smackdown we got Naomi vs Paige, which was also decent. The match was nothing special but was much better than Paige's previous performance. Finally, the PPV. This match had so much potential. So much. I had such high hopes, only to be flattened yet again. This match was short, however timing was not the only issue. Every diva in the match under performed, and the result was disappointing. The match should have gotten 15 minutes, but to no surprise it was under 10. However, this match was my match of the week, as I gave it 7/10, but it was far from PPV standard, and only got that reasonably high score due to the longer length.

Diva Of the Week

Honestly, it's difficult to decipher anyone who did well this week. Almost everyone under performed. I am having trouble deciding between Summer Rae and Naomi. Summer, because she consistently puts on a great show, or Naomi, who in my opinion performed the best at Elimination Chamber.
Due to having more TV time, I'm going to say Naomi is my diva of the week. I hope for a much better week in terms of wrestling this week and I'm hoping for an interesting storyline twist on Raw, hopefully involving Emma or someone fresh.

Elimination Chamber: Paige vs Naomi vs Nikki Bella

Elimination Chamber: Paige vs Naomi v
s Nikki Bella

Okay. So to start off, since when does the champion not come out last? Do they just do this for the divas? Ugh. I don't get it.
So my prediction for this match was that Naomi would be pinned by Nikki, which I was right about. However I also predicted that the match would get 12 minutes. Yes, I know it was a stretch, but it's a triple threat. I thought they would be generous. But yet again, the timing disappointed me. The match itself has been getting pretty bad reviews on websites and Twitter, however in my opinion,  the match was decent. It has been described as messy and botchy, but I didn't pick up on anything that I thought was particularly bad. I was disappointed by Tamina and Brie not being at ringside, however it made the match the most important part which was good. There were no distractions. The match seemed pretty regular to me. There were two impressive spots; the tower of doom and Naomi's backwards frankensteiner, but being so close to Becky and Sasha's 15 minute one on one match, didn't help the match look any better. It just highlighted the utter lack of respect these women get. They could have easily made the match 15 minutes. Paige and Nikki have had longer one on one matches. All three women involved are very talented and are 3 of the best all round wrestlers on the roster, yet they can't even be given more than a 10 minute slot. Ridiculous.

Overall this match disappointed me. For a Divas match it was average length I suppose, but I was expecting so much more out of it, well, at least some sort of storyline development. In my opinion, Naomi needed this win badly. I don't have a clue why the title is still on Nikki, the most irrelevant diva out of the three. I just don't get it. Don't get me wrong, I think Nikki is great, but it's not going great for her. I genuinely think they're planning on making her beat AJs reign. It's going to be painful to watch the division dry up even more than it is now. I think this match could have been sooooo much better, but I will give it a score of 7/10.

Thank you for reading.
