Diva Freakk Weekly Roundup

Diva Freakk Weekly Roundup

This was a pretty average week for the divas. Here is a recap of this weeks matches:

Sasha Banks vs Paige: 9/10
Carmella vs Peyton Royce: 5/10
Dana Brooke vs Billie Kay: 5/10
Sasha Banks vs Paige: 8/10

So, on Raw we got Paige vs Sasha Banks in a very solid match. We also got a segment with Team Bella and Team PCB, announcing that Nikki will in fact defend her title next week on Raw, rather than at Night Of Champions. Also, Summer Rae cut a promo extending her storyline with Rusev, Dolph and Lana. On NXT we got Carmella vs Peyton Royce and Dana Brooke vs Billie Kay, in two average matches. On Smackdown we got Sasha Banks and Paige in a rematch which ended in a brawl.
So, I would call this a pretty good week in women's wrestling. Charlotte and Nikki will be facing off on monday and it looks like Sasha and Paige have begun a new feud. One thing I have noticed is that Nikki has barely wrestled over the last few months, and with her being the champion it's a bit disappointing. Next week I would like to a great match on Raw, more extensions in storyline with Paige, Sasha and Summer and a new match announced for Night Of Champions.

5. Dana Brooke

This week Dana won a match against Billie Kay, and had a pretty good backstage segment with Devin Taylor. I'm beginning to really like Dana, and I'm seeing improvements constantly. She is definitely getting her character together, and I see big things for her.

4. Charlotte

This week Charlotte didn't wrestle, but it was announced that she will be getting a title match on Raw. She cut a decent promo with Nikki at the beginning of the week and is going into the match looking very strong.

3. Summer Rae

Once again, Summer Rae killed it this week. She cut a great promo on Raw, and is still a big part in the storyline. It's a shame that Lana is injured, but it looks like it hasn't effected Summer's push.

2. Paige

This week Paige wrestled twice against Sasha and both matches were of a very high standard. Paige and Sasha seem to be in a mini feud, and it's quickly getting more intense. The brawl on Smackdown was one of the best diva brawls I've seen in a long time.

1. Sasha Banks

This week Sasha won her match on Raw against Paige and began a new feud with her. Sasha is always consistent in the ring and is still very over with the crowd.

Smackdown: Paige vs Sasha Banks

Smackdown: Paige vs Sasha Banks

This week on Smackdown we got another great match from Sasha Banks and Paige. Even though it's becoming repetitive, the consistent good matches that are being churned out by this mini feid can't be anything but positive.
The match began with Tamina, Naomi, Charlotte and Becky being forced to leave ringside after a mini brawl. Once the bell rung the match began promptly with Paige spearing Sasha and going for the pin, in which Sasha kicked out at two. Paige then went for a roll up, and Sasha kicked out at one. Next came a backslide from Paige, which Sasha kicked out from at one again. Sasha then reversed this and went for a backslide herself, which got Paige down for one. Sasha then threw Paige into the ropes, and Paige went for a unset flip, which got Sasha down for a one count. Sasha then received a knee to the face, which got her down for one. Sasha then rolled out of the ring for a breather, but received a rolling senton from Paige. Paige then threw Sasha back into the ring, but received a kick to the head, knocking her off the mat.
After commercials we get back into the ring with Sasha in control. She smashes Paige's face into the turnbuckle and gives her three kicks to the stomach. Sasha then pulls Paige from the corner and pins her for a two count. Sasha then chokes her on the bottom rope and then goes for the double knees. Paige kicks out at two. Sasha then locks in a choke hold on Paige, and slams her on to the mat. Paige again kicks out at two. Sasha then takes Paige to the corner again, throwing her face into it, and choking her her with her foot. Paige kicks out at two. Sasha locks in another choke hold. Sasha then threw Paige into the corner, but ended up running into an elbow, leading to Paige taking control, with a knee to the face and two superkicks. Sasha kicked out at two. Sasha then slapped Paige across the face, leading to a huge brawl between the two, ending the match with a disqualification. All of the team members come down to the ring, along with two refs to help break them up. This was a great segment.

As I said on my Raw review, I love the fact that their is a second divas feud, and I do believe this feud will get a PPV match. On monday I made a bold prediction that these two will be fighting over the returning Women's Championship, and I am sticking to my guns. I think this revolution is finally going to properly take action, and hopefully change women's wrestling in WWE permanently.
I will give this match a score of 8/10.

NXT: Carmella vs Peyton Royce, Dana Brooke vs Billie Kay

NXT: Carmella vs Peyton Royce, Dana Brooke vs Billie Kay

This week on NXT we got Carmella facing a 'debuting' Peyton Royce. We all know that Peyton is Cassie, so telling us that it was a debut was kinda insulting to our intelligence, but I guess as WWE fans, we're used to it. I think the match was pretty good. Carmella is still pretty green, but she is making gradual improvements, and Peyton is pretty strong in the ring. It would've been nice to see Peyton finally get a win, now that they are acknowledging that she has a name, so hopefully that will happen at the next tapings. I thought the match overall was pretty average. The pace was very slow, and at times got boring. I think keeping a good match flow is something they will both learn over time.

I really like Carmella's new way of gettig into her submission hold, however I still think the submission looks very weak, and I think she needs to find something else. I will give this match a score of 5/10.

We also has Billie Kay vs Dana Brooke, which was another pretty good match. Dana has improved immensely over the last few months, including on her character and her mic skills. Her backstage segment with Devin was a bit rusty, but still great for how new she is. Dana is becoming one of my favourite NXT divas, and I think 2016 will be a big year for her. Dana has quickly become one of the front runners of the division, and I would say she's definitely stepped up since the top three left.

I thought the match was quite good. Dana looks very comfortable in the ring now and Billie is, like Peyton, pretty strong in terms of in ring work. It's nice to see Billie actually being acknowledged and having an entrance and I am looking forward to see where she goes from here. I will also give this match a score of 5/10.

Raw: Sasha Banks vs Paige, Charlotte and Nikki Bella segment.

Raw: Sasha Banks vs Paige, Charlotte and Nikki Bella segment

So this week on Raw we only got one divas match. I'm still not used to that having one divas match is unusual now. It's crazy. But carrying on, we got Paige vs Sasha Banks again. I get that they're starting this side feud, but there are so many combinations of matches that we still haven't had, and to make Paige and Sasha face off for the third time (and fourth time on Smackdown this week) is kinda lazy. On a good note, I definitely think the two are developing some chemistry, which they seemed to have lacked in their first match.
The match went on for quite a while, and was getting pretty loud crowd reactions, which is always great to hear. It looks to me that Paige won't actually be turning heel on Charlotte, unless perhaps these two feuds intertwine and end in a fatal four way for the title? Maybe at hell in a cell?
Anyway, I thought the match was very good and I think these two mesh very well together, especially after all the practise they've been getting. As far as this 'mini feud' goes, I'm expecting it to possibly get a PPV match, maybe at Hell In A Cell, but also I was thinking of the possibility of the women's championship being brought back. WWE recently posted a survey on which retired title should return, and it included the women's. Plus, I think if it's going to happen at anytime, it would be now. I would love to have Sasha and Paige clash over the women's title, but I wouldn't really like either of them to hold it for the time being. I think that title is perfect for Nattie. I would love to see Nattie vs Sasha for the Women's title.

I was very impressed with this match, to no surprise. Paige is definitely upping her game as of late and Sasha is still excelling. I will give it a score of 9/10.

We also got a short divas segment, mainly featuring Charlotte an the Divas Champion, Nikki Bella. Alicia and Brie also got mic time. One thing I can say about the divas revolution, is that they are definitely getting more mic time, which is great to see. Based on the segment, we now know that Nikki will be facing Charlotte for the divas title next Monday Night on Rsw, which means we currently have no match announced for Night Of Champions, but I imagine the Bella's will somehow screw Charlotte over, resulting in her getting a rematch. We all know that there's no way Nikki isn't beating the record, so I'm not particularly bothered about next weeks match. I honestly don't even see Nikki loosing it at Night Of Champions. I could even see her reaching 365 days, which would take her to around survivor series time. At this point, it's very difficult to determine who will be taking the title from Nikki, but I think my guess would have to be the obvious, and I'll say Charlotte, who will go on to feud with Sasha, which is something I definitely don't want to see.

So, at the moment I am predicting we will get Charlotte vs Nikki at Night Of Champions, with Nikki retaining. I will also make a bold prediction that we will get Paige vs Sasha Banks in a stipulation match for the women's championship at Hell In A Cell.

Thank you for reading.

Diva Freakk Weekly Roundup

Diva Freakk Weekly Roundup

This was a jam packed week for the divas, with some high and low points. We has a total of 7 matches this week, which may be a new record. Below is a recap of this weeks matches.

Becky Lynch vs Alicia Fox: 5/10
Charlotte vs Brie Bella: 3/10
Sasha Banks vs Paige: 6/10
Alexa Bliss vs Blue Pants: 4/10
Eva Marie vs Billie Kay: 5/10
Sasha Banks and Naomi vs Paige and Becky Lynch: 8/10
Charlotte vs Tamina: 5/10

So. as you can see the standard of matches this week weren't great. The three matches on Raw were unreasonably short, but at least the beat the clock challenge gave us something new. The NXT matches all involved newer wrestlers, which is understandable. The match on Main Event was very good, and the match on Smackdown was too short.

5. Naomi

Naomi really impressed me in the tag team match this week. She is improving leaps and bounds as a heel and I believe she should be one of the girls closing in on the title at this point. Naomi is definitely being over shadowed at the moment, but hopefully when the revolution dies down a bit, she will get more of a chance. I particularly love how great Naomi and Sasha work together. It's refreshing to see such great chemistry in a tag team.

4. Becky Lynch

This week Becky Lynch is my number four. On Raw, Becky participated in the first ever divas beat the clock competition. She may not have won, but that's an achievement on its own. Along with Naomi, Becky also really impressed me in the tag team match on Main Event.

3. Paige

This has been an exciting and busy week for Paige. Appearing on 3 shows, Paige participated in a great tag team match, the first ever divas beat the clock competition, and teased a heel turn. I feel like this is the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Paige.

2. Charlotte

Charlotte is the third diva that competed in the beat the clock challenge, which in the end, she won. This means Charlotte is the new number one contender, and will be facing Nikki Bella for the divas title. It looks like this match will now take place before Night Of Champions, probably on the Raw before. I personally think it's far too early for Charlotte to hold the title, but WWE are clearly insistent in pushing her quickly.

1. Summer Rae

This week Summer Rae is my number one diva, for reasons that don't need to be explained. Summer is KILLING it. I am in love with this storyline, and I honestly think Summer over shadows Lana weekly, which is crazy. The storyline extended this week, but with Lana now injured, I don't know how far this will go on. I can only hope that Summer remains in a steady position.

Smackdown: Tamina vs Charlotte, Miz TV

Smackdown: Tamina vs Charlotte, Miz TV

This week on Smackdown we got a backstage segment, a match and an in ring segment with Lana and Summer Rae, so quite a lot of divas action to get through.
Firstly, the backstage segment was pretty cool. We got Paige, Becky and Charlotte talking with Renee backstage about Charlotte becoming the new number one contender, which was interrupted by team Bella, who once again brought up Nikki breaking the record. The segment ended with Charlotte announcing that she has petitioned to the Authority to get her title match before Nikki breaks AJ's reign. This lead into a one on one match between Charlotte and Tamina, which was.... decent. The match was very short. I liked how Tamina was portrayed during the matches, however her constant jobbing status takes away from the 'monster' image she tries to make. I liked the match psychology, but there wasn't really much wrestling to report on, but I was glad to see Charlotte using the Natural selection again.

This match was once again nothing special, but it could have been sloppy or botchy, which Tamina is famous for. Tamina actually seems to be improving which is good. So overall, I'll have to give this match a score of 5/10.

Next we had a great segment with Summer Rae and Lana. I loved this so much and this feud is getting so interesting. Summer is so funny and such a great heel, it's just impossible not to like her. I really like how Summer is trying to get between Dolph and Lana and I found it a really interesting twist in the storyline. I know that Lana is now injured, so I don't know how this will affect the story, but obviously this means Lana won't be in the ring anytime soon, which is a shame. Hopefully they can manage to carry the story on without Lana getting physical.

Main Event: Becky Lynch and Paige vs Sasha Banks and Naomi

Main Event: Becky Lynch and Paige vs Sasha Banks and Naomi

This week on Main Event we got a four divas tag team match, which got a good amount of time. I actually really enjoyed this match. I loved how long they kept Becky isolated and I also loved the teamwork between Naomi and Sasha. The result of this match further enforced my belief that Paige will turn heel and cost Charlotte the title. To me, it looks as if Charlotte's title match will happen before the PPV, so we may possibly get Nikki vs Charlotte vs Paige at Night Of Champions, which I would be okay with. At this point though, I honestly think that Charlotte is not ready, character wise, for the title. She doesn't need it right now like others do. I would really like Naomi to be the next in line after Nikki, but I don't see it for her. Lately I've been so impressed with her in ring work and character, and I think she is definitely in her prime, and she certainly doesn't deserve to be out shined by the NXT girls.
I thought we got a very good match this week, and the fact that it seemingly added to the possible story was a bonus. All four women worked well, but Paige is still under performing. I feel like she is slacking because of how much the company was behind her in her first year, and she feels like she doesn't need to try hard anymore. Paige definitely needs to up her game because the NXT girls are out wrestling her and getting bigger crowd reactions. I think a heel turn would definitely add my life to her in ring work, but I feel like a month without Paige on TV would be beneficial to everyone. It would give more girls opportunities, help Paige work out a new character and give the viewers a well deserved break from her.

I was definitely impressed with the match this week. I will give it a score of 8/10.

Thank you for reading.
